Universal Robot Project
My first project as manufacturing intern at Bobrick Washroom. I designed and built many fixtures for the main gluing portion of the system along with coding the entirety of the system (ladder logic, robotic motion control, camera code) and designing and building the testing PLC system. I saw the project to its completion, making it the first automated system in the company's history, and replacing the previous assembly method that took over 24 hours with our solution that takes 7 minutes.
Built a automated gluing station that used a 6-axis robotic arm
Arm interacted with auto glue gun, calibration datum, clamping station, testing system
Designed testing system using pneumatic pistons, pressure sensors, PLC, relays
Verifies initial gluing station's seal is sound
Helped with PLC electronics box; sourced parts, wiring, ladder logic
Learned a bunch about system integration
Key features:
Auto calibration to compensate for part inaccuracies
Rapid realisation of independent testing system
